A snowy, slippery Douglas Highway (Route 184) was blamed for sending a Chevy Trailblazer operated by a Rabbit Run resident off the road and into a utility pole. The driver was alone in the vehicle and was not hurt, but the vehicle was badly damaged, as was the utility pole. | ![]() |

Fire Department personnel were on scene within 2-minutes of the initial call. A passing Hancock Firefighter saw the accident and called 911 on a cell phone. LVFD provided traffic control around the scene. At right, chief Skip Smith and FF Kermit Theall assist motorists stopped by the scene. |
Bangor Hydro Electric Company, which is located just around the corner from the accident scene and sent four trucks and crews to the accident to replace the pole. | ![]() |
