Fire Call April 10, 2005

The Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department was called to a report of a grass/woods fire on Gilpatrick Lane. The landowner had a permit to burn a brush pile, and the wind picked up and took the flames across dry grass tops toward the landowner's home. LVFD responded with brush trucks 405 and 402. At right, FF Kermit Theall (in yellow) hoses down the remains of the brush pile whle FF Rusty Boynton walks around the permieter of the fire with a back pump putting out hot spots.
The landowner called 9-1-1 as soon as the flames started to take off, and that quick call gave firefighters enough time to get the fire before it got too far away and into the woods. At left, brush truck 405 is operated by Asst. Chief Joe Reynolds. A rubber "booster" line was used from this truck to put out the fire. Behind this truck is brush truck 402 which supplied water to the lead attack truck. About one half acre was burned by the flames.
