Rescue Call July 11, 2005

Lamoine VFD was called shortly before 4:00 PM for a report of a sailboat that may have needed assistance with an approaching squall. Rescue 403, Truck 405 and the rescue boat responded to Marlboro Beach immediately. Lt. Brett Jones and Asst. Chief Stu Marckoon (at right) took the rescue boat to the small sailboat which managed to get under way under its own power. Sailor Art Carey, a summer resident, said his mast had broken and he was in trouble for a while. Carey managed to motor back to a mooring and waited out the storm. He advised he needed no further assistance from the fire department.
