Lamoine Fire Dept Call - January 5, 2006

Lamoine VFD was called approximately 7:45 AM to Buttermilk Road where a skidder at a forestry operation had caught fire. Engine 401, Tanker 404, Rescue 403 and Truck 405 were on scene within 10-minutes.
A crew from Crane's Contract Cutting had already used fire extinguishers to knock down the flames, but heavy smoke was still showing on arrival. LVFD used water and foam to cool down the wires and hoses under the cab of the skidder. The hoses suffered some burn damage, and the cab was heavily coated in smoke.
No one was hurt in the fire and it's believed the skidder will be relatively easy to repair. Firefighters checked the unit with the Thermal Imaging Camera to make sure it would not re-ignite while cooling off.
